Obituary for Florence Marino

Florence Marino, 79, of New Kensington, passed away Monday, February 3, 2020, at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville, PA.  She was born July 7, 1940, to the late Dominick A. and Josephine B. (Iozzi) Marino. She called New Ken home for 75 years before moving to Munroe Towers in Oakmont in 2016.  Florence graduated from New Kensington High School in 1958, where she made lifelong friends and remained active in planning her class reunions for decades.  She became a licensed cosmetologist in 1962 and started her own successful women-owned business, Florence’s Beauty Salon on Kenneth Ave., New Kensington, which operated for years.     Florence was a member of Mount Saint Peter Roman Catholic Church, New Kensington, and the Columbiana Ladies Lodge, Arnold. She was also active at the Riverview Community Action Corporation, Oakmont.  Florence enjoyed party planning, trying out new local restaurants and the company of friends. Florence’s best friend since childhood Kathleen Moore stayed at her bedside throughout her illness. Florence is survived by her sister Theresa Colgrove (Fishers, IN), five nieces and nephews, eight great nieces and nephews, and several godchildren. In addition to her parents, Florence is preceded in death by her sisters Emily Arabia and Priscilla Collett, and brothers-in-law Robert Colgrove and William Collett.
